4. Police Matters.
Matters from last meeting:-
New Police Matters.
No one present from the Police owing to work commitments. No new points raised.
5. Development of the Old Surgery Site
Mr I.McIvor, from the Housing Association, was in attendance to present a new set of plans for development of the Old Surgery Site in Kyle. The footprint of the proposed development is
now very much on the same layout as the present building with a reduction of the number of apartments to 4 flats with 2 bedrooms each. Apart from a section to the rear of the building the
the exterior finish is rendered block work. The only wood finish is to the rear for access to the upper floor. One other item for discussion was the upper windows at the back of the property, should they be skylights or dormer type windows. The decision was to go for the skylights as this would provide more privacy for overlooking / looking into Victory next door. Mr C.Morrison, of Victory, still felt the site was overdeveloped. With no further points
Mr I McIvor was thanked for being present and left the meeting.
6. Post box at new sorting office.
Letter back stating that the matter would be looked into but with the present financial climate the possibility of extra mail boxes is unlikely.
7.
Kyle Development update
The Kyle Development Group is progressing well with its development as
a working body. They will be working
with assistance from the Scottish
Community Foundation through their Our Community Our Future programme, who will
be providing guidance and financial assistance over the next 12 to 18
months. The initial aim of the Group is
for the development of the Plock of Kyle for the people of Kyle. Further meetings as a group and with the
Scottish Community Foundation are scheduled over the coming months.
8. Donation
to Kyle line and refurb of the old signal box.
The Kyle Line Group are raising funding for the refurb of the Old Signal Box Kyle. A proposal was submitted to the C.C. with details of funding required and the proposed layout. It was decided to donate the sum of £500 and a request for funding progress on a regular basis or when any significant progress has been made.
9.
Clearing of footpath around view point at the Plock
The clearing of the footpaths around the picnic areas etc within the Plock Of Kyle are no longer the responsibility of the Council. Approach was made by John Phillips Senior Country side Ranger Sky & Lochalsh to the CC. with a proposal for clearing the footpaths. A team of young volunteers from the Princess Trust are prepared to come and carry out a clearing. It was agreed to make a donation towards the clearing to the sum of £250 plus an additional sum of £250 from the Plock of Kyle Trust.
10.
Pot Holes (especially along BUTEC base Road )
On going problem. Feed back from George speed is that the Council have had a problem with the hot melt machine and pot hole filling has been slow. It was noted that the previously filled hole near the junction of Stoney Road and Railway Terrace is starting to break up again. The situation to be monitored.
Also the need for line painting at several locations around the village, especially at junctions needs to be addressed. ( G.Speed to be contacted once more)
11. Future car parking around Kyle.
Still an
ongoing problem with no real way forward.
See also comments above about School bus parking within the village.
12. Correspondence.
No new correspondence at this time. Any correspondence of importance has been dealt with between meetings by being sent out to members for comment as required.
13. A.O.B.
13.a Collection of rubbish bins now on a two week cycle. Some households are finding the
collection of the green rubbish bin every two weeks is to long as the bin is overfull. The feeling of the C.C. at this time is it is early days to pass judgment and as time moves on households may get used to how they recycle rubbish to reduce the amount in th egreen bin. The situation to be monitored.
13.b Change of use of the old Post Office. It is understood that the lower floor will be used as
the new chip shop but would not be opened until probably the new year. The flat upstairs has been refurbished.
13.c The pavement outside the Butchers Shop and near the gable end of the Chemist to be
investigated owing to holes left after a sign removal. ( Contact G.Speed)
13.d Investigate laybay out along the main road for damage to grass verge and report to
Transerve.
